Ecological goal in architecture:
The main ecological goal in architecture today is to
reduce to a minimum – ideally to zero - the total
primary energy needs of a building i.e. the energy
consumption for heating, cooling, ventilation and
A building envelope can be described as
environmentally responsive, when it makes
use of natural renewable energy sources such
as solar radiation for heating, lighting, photovoltaic,
etc., and such as wind for natural ventilation
of office spaces, atria and climate halls.
In addition to practicing of the design of
responsive building envelopes by means of
integrated planning, visits of built examples
will be organized. Lectures and design studios
will take place during 1st and 3rd week. During the
2nd week the class will be traveling to London.
A detailed programm is available on the website.
