Thomas Jefferson University College of Architecture and the Built Environment – Architecture Programs will present the Façade Forum 2019 “The New Age of Glass is Here”, Friday, April 12, 2019. New ways of creating and using glass has opened possibilities to solve previously impossible problems. Rapidly developing materials research and fabricating techniques has changed glass and how it performs in buildings and other industries. We are gathering an international group of glass experts to discuss how glass is being used today and what the future of glass will be.
This one-day conference includes panelists that span the disciplines of those who make facades. We will have two panels with academics, professionals and building scientists discussing the leading-edge of what is needed to design and make building facades. Our keynote speaker will be Jens Schneider from TU Darmstadt, a worldwide leader in glass structures. We will also have academics from Europe and North America, professionals from leading architecture, engineering and contracting offices participating in discussions about glass. In addition, we will have a workshop and demo of the VR system created by Schuco Virtual Construction Lab. We expect attendance by over 100 architects, engineers, consultants and contractors. This event will have 5 AIA CEU’s.
