This year’s event, themed “Adaptive Building Envelopes” is dedicated to a still relatively new technology. Adaptive or dynamic facades can optimally adapt properties such as insulation behaviour, light transmission, energy transmission etc. to ever varying climatic surrounding conditions and user demands. Compared to conventional facade systems, this technology can contribute significantly to optimising the energy efficiency of modern buildings.
The conference “façade 2014” is the 10th edition of an international conference series. For the third time in its history, this year’s event will be held in Switzerland. The conference is organised by the Façade Engineering Centre of the University of Applied Science Lucerne and the University Ost-Westfalen-Lippe in Detmold (Germany), together with the Swiss Centre for Windows and Curtain Walls (SZFF). The conference aims at providing participants with information on the latest trends, developments and technologies by inviting internationally renowned architects and engineers to present their thoughts and visions.
The conference is conducted within the framework of the European Facade Network (EFN) and the European research project COST TU1403 „Adaptive Facades Network“.
The activity COST TU1403 is a European research project, initiated and lead by the Façade Engineering Centre of the Lucerne University related to adaptive and dynamic facades. Scientists, engineers, architects and industry partners from more than 20 countries participate in the programme.
At the last conference in 2012, held at the KKL in Lucerne, more than 190 engineers, architects, and façade planners met for interesting lectures and stimulating discussions.
The event is taking place between 08h30 and 17h30 on Friday, 28th November at the KKL in Lucerne.
