Aslıhan Tavil graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 1986. She received her Master’s and PhD degrees from the same institution in 1988 and 1996, respectively. In 2000, she started serving as an Assistant Professor at ITU, and has continued her academic career as an Associate Professor at ITU since 2009. She served as the Associate Head of the Department of Architecture at ITU between 2000 and 2003, and as the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator between 2001 and 2011. In 2003-2004, she served as a visiting researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory of the University of California where she completed her postdoc research project on performance evaluation electrochromic windows; this visit was made possible by the TUBITAK NATO – B2 Scholarship Program. Professor Tavil has taught several PhD, master’s and undergraduate classes on building technology and has conducted extensive research on sustainable building technologies and construction, building performance simulation, and high performance façade and window systems. Being a Fulbright Fellow, she worked and taught as a Visiting Professor at Roger Williams University, School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation at Bristol, Rhode Island between 2012-2013. At the moment, she has been working at ITU Department of Architecture as an Associate Professor.
