In recent years, the future-proof and user-oriented design of the human living space has become a central and concrete field of action for important political and research agendas at national and international level and is currently more relevant than ever. There is a correspondingly high demand for developments to be accompanied by the expertise of the planning sciences and supported by theory-based and practice-oriented knowledge about human habitats. The younger generation of prospective planners also recognizes the need to take a more active role in the sustainable design of our living space.

This autumn, for the first time, we will be holding a digital conference on the topic of the built environment - the human habitat - together with all the research areas of the Detmold School of Architecture and Interior Architecture. From human scale to urban scale. Because we are convinced that the complexity of our living space requires us to bring together the fragmented levels of knowledge within the planning disciplines, but also beyond.

We broaden our scope! Especially this year, when the topic of transformation is of particular concern to us all.

The DCW links the research areas by means of the thematic clusters Data Driven Design, Strategies for the Built Environment and Quality of Life in the Built Environment, which deal specifically with the social challenges of the qualitative design of the human living space.
